Dr. Fintel is a cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital specializing in critical care medicine and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Fintel's special interests include acute coronary syndromes, congestive heart failure, lipid disorders, nuclear cardiology, atherosclerosis prevention, atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, hypertension, ischemic heart disease and lipoprotein disorders. He has extensive experience in clinical trials, antithrombotic therapy, critical care cardiology and nuclear cardiology.
An associate professor in the Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Fintel was named an Outstanding Teacher by the school's Department of Medicine in 1988. Dr. Fintel is involved in a number of research initiatives and multicenter clinical trials in the field, and currently holds four grants to study the impact of several medications on acute coronary syndromes and hypertension. He is the recipient of scientific and research awards from Harvard Medical School, the Eastern Student Research Forum, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine.
Dr. Fintel is a member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. He was instrumental in creating and implementing guidelines in critical care cardiology and has led Northwestern Memorial in "Get With The Guidelines" and more than 15 multicenter clinical trials.
Dr. Fintel graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed his internship and residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. He completed a fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Fintel is board certified in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, critical care medicine and internal medicine. He speaks fluent Spanish.
