Dr. Eskandari is a board certified vascular and endovascular surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a particular interest in endovascular surgery and stent technology. As an associate professor of Surgery with adjunct appointments in Radiology and Cardiology, he is also the co-director of the Northwestern Endovascular Center, Director of Carotid and Peripheral Artery Interventions, and the Program Director of the Northwestern Vascular Surgery Fellowship. His current clinical research endeavors include numerous trials investigating the use of stent grafts for the treatment of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, stent systems for carotid artery occlusive disease, and endoluminal interventions for lower extremity arterial occlusive disease.
He is a nationally recognized expert in carotid artery stenting and aortic aneurysm stent grafting and has served as course director for several national carotid stenting and thoracic stent grafting training programs for other physicians. His bibliography includes over 100 manuscripts, 25 book chapters, and over 75 local, national, and international presentations on the treatment of vascular disease. Dr. Eskandari has also been the recipient of three awards for excellence in research, two awards for excellence in teaching, the Lifeline Foundation’s Wylie Traveling Fellowship award, and the NMFF Physician Clinical Excellence Award for Clinical Innovation.
Dr. Eskandari completed his undergraduate and medical school education at the University of Michigan. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and his vascular fellowship at Northwestern University Medical School. He is board certified in general and vascular surgery.
