Dr. de Hoyos is the director of the Center for Robotic and Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery. He is also co-director of the Center for Complex Airway Surgery and a member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. While providing surgical care to benign and malignant diseases of the chest, his special interests include airway/esophageal stenting, brachytherapy, bronchoscopy, esophageal cancer, esophageal disorders, lung cancer, medistinal tumors, mesothelioma, minimally invasive surgery, lobectomy, esophagectomy, radiofrequency ablation, lung tumors, sympathectomy/hyperhidrosis, thoracic oncology and robotic thoracic surgery.
Dr. de Hoyos completed medical school at the University Nuevo Leon, Monterrey Mexico. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and his Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. He also completed a Minimally Invasive Thoracic and Foregut Surgery Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. de Hoyos is board certified in General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care.
