Dr. Ardehali is a cardiologist on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and an assistant professor of Medicine, Molecular Pharmacology and Biological Chemistry at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. He is a consultant to Northwestern Memorial Faculty Foundation. His clinical interests include coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndrome and preventive cardiology. His basic science interests include the role of mitochondria and metabolic enzymes in cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Ardehali has received numerous awards, including the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Cardiovascular Sciences (BCVS) Young Investigator Award, the Jeremiah Stamler Distinguished Young Investigator Award, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) International Competitive Grant Awards for Young Investigators, and the Schweppe Foundation Award. He is a fellow of the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology. He serves on numerous AHA committees, including the AHA BCVS leadership committee and AHA International Mentoring Program. He also chairs the AHA National Speaker Program Education Committee. Dr. Ardehali is the founder and coordinator of the Chicago Mitochondrial Club, a society for scientists interested in mitochondrial research. He has published more than 30 manuscripts in journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Molecular and Cellular Biology, American Journal of Cardiology, and Circulation research.
Dr. Ardehali is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He attended medical school at Vanderbilt University where he obtained his MD and PhD as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). He went on to complete his internship, residency and fellowship in cardiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He conducted his fellowship research in Dr. Eduardo Marban's laboratory.
