Biographical Sketch

Dr. Gulati is a cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the associate medical director of the Center for Women's Cardiovascular Health at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. Her special interests include heart disease prevention, fitness and heart disease, and exercise testing/training, with a particular focus on heart disease and prevention in women. She is an assistant professor of Medicine and Preventive Medicine within Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

A leader in the study of women and cardiac diseases, Dr. Gulati was chosen by Crain Business Magazine as one of Chicago's Top 40 under 40 in 2006. She is a co-author of the newest guidelines on heart disease prevention in women, published by the American Heart Association, released in 2007. She is the primary investigator of the St. James Women Take Heart Project, a study examining cardiac risk factors in women. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications, including those in the American Journal of Cardiology, Circulation, American Journal of Epidemiology, Journal of the American Medical Association, and the New England Journal of Medicine.

Dr. Gulati completed medical school at the University of Toronto, Canada in 1995. She went on to complete her internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Chicago. She stayed on to get a Master of Science at the University of Chicago and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. She is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.
