Dr. Goldberger is a cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and medical director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology section.
Dr. Goldberger, a member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, is particularly interested in pacemakers, cardiac rhythm disorders, catheter ablation, implantable defibrillators, and supraventricular tachycardia.
A professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and dedicated lecturer and educator, Dr. Goldberger is also the program director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program. He has several active research grants; his research focuses on pacemaker and beta blocker therapy in post-myocardial infarction patients, cardiac parasympathetic effects in exercise and recovery, vagus nerve stimulation, catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation and device therapy.
In addition to his clinical practice and teaching, Dr. Goldberger is an editorial consultant and abstract reviewer for more than 20 medical journals. He is also on the editorial boards of three major journals and a member of several committees of the American Heart Association.
Dr. Goldberger is also active in many professional and scientific societies as a member and fellow of organizations such as the American College of Cardiology, Alpha Omega Alpha and the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology. He was the recipient of the James Loughman Traveling Fellowship in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology in 1997 and a Young Investigator Award Finalist of the American College of Cardiology in 1994.
Dr. Goldberger attended medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and his fellowship at the University of California at San Francisco. Dr. Goldberger also has his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and cardiac electrophysiology.
