Dr. Davidson is a member of the cardiology department with a several areas of expertise, from coronary angioplasty, valvular heart disease and adult congenital heart disease. He is a professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, chief of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories, director of the Interventional Cardiology Program and medical director of the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute.
After completing medical school at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Davidson completed his internship and residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He went on to complete a cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. He was an assistant professor of Medicine and associate director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Duke before coming to Northwestern.
Dr. Davidson has been the cardiology principal investigator for numerous National Institutes of Health and industry sponsored trials including the BARI 2D study. He has published over 200 peer reviewed manuscripts. He has authored the chapter on cardiac catheterization in the last five editions of Braunwald's Textbook of Heart Disease.
Dr. Davidson received the Jacques M. Smith, MD, Distinguished Physician in Medicine Award. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention.
Board certified in cardiovascular disease, internal medicine, and interventional cardiology, Dr. Davidson's special interests include drug eluting stents, transcatheter valve therapy, coronary artery interventions in diabetics, percutaneous closure devices, and balloon valvuloplasty.
